SUZIE'S 2 STRAND EARFLAP HAT (C)

MATERIALS:
Worsted weight yarn, approximately 3 ounces adult and 2.5 ounces kid’s
Size N hook (9.00mm) crochet hook
Yarn needle

NOTE:
1.
Read instructions through before beginning.
2. Hat is worked holding 2 strands of yarn at the same time throughout. It can be either two strands of worsted weight or one of worsted and one of a novelty like Fun Fur.
3. Beginning chain 2 doesn’t count as a stitch.
4. Pull slipstitch tight so that it nearly disappears.

SIZE: Woman's average (21 inch)






INSTRUCTIONS:
Ch 4, join with a slipstitch to form a ring

Round 1: Ch 2 (remember does not count as a dc), work 10 dc in the ring. Join with a slipstitch in the top of first dc. (10 dc)

Round 2: Ch 2, 2 dc in same st as join, *2 dc in next st, repeat from * around. Join with a slipstitch in the top of first dc. (20 dc)

Round 3: Ch 2, 2 dc in same st as join, *dc in next st, 2 dc in next st, repeat from * around. End with dc in last st. Join with a slipstitch in the top of first dc. (30 dc)

Round 4: Ch 2, dc in same st as join, *2 dc in next st, dc in next 2 sts, repeat from * around. End with dc in last st. Join with a slipstitch in the top of first dc. (40 dc)

Round 5-8: Ch 2, dc in each st around, join with a slipstitch in the top of first dc. (40 dc)

Round 9: Ch 1(does not count as an hdc), hdc in each st around. Join with a slipstitch in top of first hdc. (40 hdc).

Don’t fasten off

EARFLAP:
Row 1: Ch 1, hdc in same st as join, hdc next 7 sts. (8 hdc)



Row 2: Ch 2. turn, dc dec over 2 sts, dc in next 4 st, dc dec over last 2 sts. (6 dc)



Row 3: Ch 2, turn, dc dec over 2 st, dc in next 2 sts, dc dec over last 2 st (4 dc)



Row 4: Ch 2, turn, dc dec over 2 sts, twice. (2 dc)


Row 5: Ch 2, turn, dc dec over last 2 sts. Do not fasten off.

TIE:
Ch 21, slipstitch up chain.

Fasten off, weave in end.





SECOND EARFLAP: Working on the right side, skip 7 st from first earflap for the back of hat, attach yarn with a slipstitch in the 8th st. Complete the same as the other ear flap. Work the first row over the beginning tail.


SMALL SIZE: Kid’s (18 inch)

Ch 4, join with a slipstitch to form a ring

Round 1: Ch 2, work 10 dc in the ring. Join with a slipstitch in the top of first dc. (10 sts)

Round 2: Ch 2, 2 dc in same st as join, *2 dc in next st, repeat from * around. Join with a slipstitch in the top of first dc. (20 sts)

Round 3: Ch 2, 2 dc in same st as join, *dc in next st, 2 dc in next st, repeat from * around. End with dc in last st. Join with a slipstitch in the top of first dc. (30 dc)

Round 4: Ch 2, dc in next 5 sts, *2 dc in next st, dc in next 5 sts, repeat from * around ending with 2 dc in last st. Join with a slipstitch in the top of first dc. (35 sts)

Round 5-7: Ch 2, dc in each st around, join with a slipstitch in the top of first dc. (35 sts)

Round 8: Ch 1 (does not count as an hdc), hdc in each st around. Join with a slipstitch in top of first dc. (35 sts)

Don’t fasten off


EARFLAP:
Row 1:
Ch 1, hdc in next 6 st. (6 hdc)



Row 2: Ch 2, turn, dc dec over next 2 sts, dc in next 2 sts, dc dec over next 2 sts. (4 dc)



Row 3: Ch 2, turn, dc dec over next 2 sts, twice. (2 dc)



Row 4: Ch 2, turn, dc dec over last 2 sts.

Do not fasten off.

TIE:
Ch 16, slipstitch up chain.

Fasten off, weave in end.

SUZIE’S ONE BALL RUFFLED WRIST COZIES




Two ruffles peek out of your jacket cuff.

SIZES:
Women’s small 5.5-6 inch wrist measurement (medium 6.5-7 inch)

MATERIALS:
Patons Super Wool 50g, or other worsted weight yarn
Crochet hook size I (5.5 mm)

GAUGE:
5 rows = 2 inches


NOTES:
1. These can be made smaller or larger by changing the length of the beginning chain. Just use an even number of chains.
2. I crocheted some out of DK weight and an H hook. Next I'm going to try sports weight and a F hook.

INSTRUCTIONS:



Chain 22 (26) join with slipstitch in first chain.


Round 1: Ch 3 (counts as first dc), dc in each ch around. Join with a slipstitch around the first dc (ch 3) as if to fpdc. 22 (26 sts)


Rounds 2-6: Ch 3 (counts as first fpdc), *bpdc around next stitch, fpdc around next stitch. Repeat around. Join with slipstitch as if to fpdc. Fasten off. 22 (26 sts)


RUFFLED EDGE:


RE-Round 1: Attach yarn with a sc in any unused loop of beginning chain. S c in each chain around. Join with a slipstitch in the back loop of first sc. (26 sts)


RE-Round 2: Working in the back loop only for this round. Ch 4, *dc, ch 1, dc, ch 1, in same stitch as join. *Dc, ch 1, dc, ch 1, dc, ch 1 in next stitch. Repeat from * around. Join with a slipstitch in 3th chain of ch 4. Slipstitch in chains 2, and 1 of beginning chain 4. Slipstitch in front loop of first sc of round 1.


RE-Round 3: Working in the front loop only for this round. Ch 4, *dc, ch 1, dc, ch 1, in same stitch as slipstitch. *Dc, ch 1, dc, ch 1,dc, ch 1 in next stitch. Repeat from * around. Join with a slipstitch in 3rd chain of ch 4.


Fasten off and weave in ends.

SUZIE’S RED DRESS PIN

This pattern is posted in recognition of National Wear Red Day.


National Wear Red Day, February 6, 2009, is a day when Americans nationwide will wear red to show their support for women's heart disease awareness. This observance promotes the Red Dress symbol and provides an opportunity for everyone to unite in this life-saving awareness movement by showing off a favorite red dress, shirt, or tie, or Red Dress Pin.


MATERIALS:

Small amount of size 10 thread
Size 5 crochet hook
Tapestry needle to weave in ends
Small pin back
Heart shaped rhinestone or sequin
Craft glue



GAUGE: Unimportant


SIZE: Approximately 3 inches



NOTES:

1. Read instructions through before beginning.

2. If your stitch count isn't exactly pattern, don't worry about it.



INSTRUCTIONS:

Ch 18, join with slipstitch in first ch to form ring.



Round 1: Ch 1, 36 sc in ring. Join with slipstitch in top of first sc. (36 sts)

Round 2: Ch 1, hdc in each st. Join with slipstitch in top of first hdc. (36 sts)


Round 3: Ch 1, 2 hdc in same st as join, *hdc, 2 hdc. Repeat from * twice. Skip 11 sts, 2 hdc, *hdc, 2 hdc. Repeat from * twice. Skip 11 sts, join with slipstitch in top of first hdc. (22 sts).



Round 4-5: Ch 1, sc in each st. (22 sts)

Round 6: Ch 1, *Sc dec over 2 sts, sc in next st. Repeat from * around. End with sc in last st. Join with a slipstitch in first sc dec. (15 sts)

Round 7: Sc in each st. Join with a slipstitch in top first sc. (15 sts)

Round 8: Ch 1, 2 sc in same st as join. *Sc in next st, 2 sc in next st. Repeat from * around. End with sc in last st. (22 sts)

Round 9-10: Ch 2, dc in each st. Join with slipstitch in top of first dc. (22 sts)

Choose the side you think looks best for the front and glue heart to left bodice.



Glue or sew pin back to back of dress.
